Mark Wynn is the Managing Director of Datum Groundworks and has spent his career in the construction industry, starting out as an engineer and then gaining experience in every facet of the industry from estimating to project delivery. He founded Datum to bring a reliable, straightforward approach to groundworks across Kent, with a focus on quality, safety, and long-term client relationships.

Mark is proud to employ people from the community and support projects that make a lasting difference. He's a familiar face on site and enjoys working directly with clients to make sure every project is delivered to the highest standard.

Outside of work, Mark is an active supporter of grassroots sport in the area and enjoys spending time with his family or on the golf course!

Dave Bingham is Datum Groundworks' Contracts Manager, bringing years of hands-on experience to the role. He oversees project operations and ensures we deliver safely on time, and to the highest standards. Dave is recognised for his practical approach and the strong working relationships he builds with clients and colleagues alike.

Away from work, he's a keen golfer and can often be found out on the course when not spending time with family and friends.

Chris Werner is Datum Groundworks' Lead Quantity Surveyor, bringing years of industry experience, including work on major projects both in the UK and overseas. His expertise in cost management and project control helps ensure that Datum delivers value and quality for its clients.

Outside of work, he enjoys travelling with his wife and their dogs, often heading off in their camper van to explore new places.

Anyone who has worked in East Kent construction will likely have worked with Ray. Ray is a Datum Groundworks' stalwart, a stickler for detail and someone who likes to keep the site managers on their toes. Ray dislikes wastage almost as much as he dislikes the office printer, but he loves delivering value and quality for its clients.

Away from the office, and sometimes in the office you'll see Ray and his dog Oonagh together.

Nikki has worked at Datum Groundworks for more than four years as Operations Manager. She has experience in sales and administration within the construction industry, and her straightforward approach ensures the office runs smoothly. If you've ever called the Datum office, you've probably noticed her no-nonsense attitude.

Nikki is also affectionately seen as the office mother to Ben, the Datum Ambassador. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, spending time with her family, and saving for her next holiday.

Simon Smith is an Estimator at Datum Groundworks with decades of experience in the construction industry. His knowledge and straightforward approach ensure projects are accurately costed and properly prepared from the outset.

Simon is known in the office for his dry sense of humour. Outside of work, he enjoys quality time with his family.

Sean Mynard is Datum Groundworks' Plant Manager and Buyer, has been in the industry since the 90's gaining a wealth of industry experience. Sean ensures that the right plant and materials arrive where they're needed, to keep projects running smoothly.

A keen footballer in his youth, Sean has given back to the game for over 20 years as a youth team manager and coach, most notably with Folkestone Invicta FC.

Mel Higgs is the newest member of the Datum Groundworks team, joining as an Admin Assistant. Although new to the construction industry, Mel has quickly established herself as a go-to person for site managers thanks to her diligence and organisation. Mel has some serious Excel skills that the rest of the office can only admire.

Outside of work, Mel enjoys swimming, crocheting, and spending time with her younger sister and their pet tortoise Houdini, where her caring nature really shines through.

Danny Smyth leads Health, Safety, and Environmental management at Datum Groundworks. With extensive groundworks experience and several years as a Site Manager, Danny brings a practical, no-nonsense approach to keeping people and projects safe. His first-hand understanding of site operations gives him a good insight into the challenges teams face.

Danny enjoys time with his family following their football team and is rumoured to be picking up the golf clubs very soon.

Scott has been with Datum for over 11 years, starting out as a site supervisor, he's worked his way up to become a trusted project manager. Known for his steady approach and strong site knowledge, Scott ensures projects are delivered smoothly and to a high standard.

Away from site Scott is a keen fisherman but has swapped the water for the skies, completing a charity skydive. Scott, like Danny is also rumoured to be in the 'all the gear no idea' phase of golfing!

Ben is Datum Groundworks' much-loved Ambassador and loyal right-hand man to the Managing Director. Now three years into his reign, he proudly took over from the legendary Gentleman Bob in late 2022.

A lively mix of energy and affection, Ben is always first to greet the delivery drivers at the office and rarely misses a lunchtime walk with his office mum Nikki. Whether keeping spirits high or demanding attention, he's very much at the heart of the Datum team.
